UpScale: 🔍 SuperSearch
Background
At UpScale, we aimed to enhance our all-in-one credit and cash flow management app by adding a feature that would help users verify GST and PAN details of their business partners. This led to the creation of "Super Search," designed to provide seamless verification services, ensuring trust and transparency in business transactions. To promote our platform, the first 10 searches were offered for free.

Problem
We realized that business people need to verify the GST and PAN details of those they do business with. Existing methods were often expensive and charged for each verification, making the process costly and inefficient. To solve this problem and market upscale.cash effectively, we came up with the idea of Super Search, offering a certain number of free verifications.
The Solution: SuperSearch
We envisioned a tool that could simplify the verification process, providing quick and accurate results. "Super Search" was born out of this idea, aimed at empowering users with reliable data.
We conducted market research and analysed competitor products to identify key pain points and opportunities for differentiation. Initial sketches and wireframes were created to outline the user flow and interface design. Prototypes were tested with internal teams for feedback.
Key Features
GST Verification: Users can enter a GST number to verify the details of a business entity, including its registration status and address.
PAN Verification: Users can enter a PAN number to confirm the identity of an individual or business.
User-Friendly Interface: The tool is designed to be intuitive, with clear instructions and a straightforward input process.
Real-Time Results: Verification results are displayed in real-time, minimising waiting periods and enhancing user experience.
Free Searches: Users can perform a certain number of verifications for free, making the tool accessible and cost-effective
UX Solutions
We focused on the needs and preferences of our users, ensuring the tool was intuitive and easy to use. Regular reviews and heuristic evaluations were conducted to ensure the design adhered to established usability principles. Feedback from usability tests was incorporated in multiple iterations to refine the user experience.
Big Search bar
By making the search bar and CTA large enough for users to easily paste or type the GST and initiate the search, I applied Fitts's Law.
On click data copy
By providing the copy action before important information that users may need to copy, I applied the UX heuristics of Visibility of System Status and Reduce Cognitive Load.
Ad Banners
On top of SuperSearch, we added marketing banners highlighting the main features of the UpScale platform. The design was straightforward and easy for the user to read, employing the UX method of Progressive Disclosure.
Reciprocity
We kept location details locked, and the data will only unlock once the user signs up for our UpScale platform. This encourages the user to onboard UpScale.
Result
Since its launch, Super Search has significantly improved the verification process for our users and served as an effective marketing tool to draw new users to upscale.cash. The tool has been widely adopted, with positive feedback highlighting its ease of use and reliability.
